LL Bean makes good quality items. They’re just not always stylish. Here are seven items from their latest Home catalog that you can confidently buy without sinking into a fussy “cottage” aesthetic. In fact, done right, they can be downright minimal. Except those daisy sheets. But I still kinda like ’em.

I think the daisy sheets would work fine with a different headboard and an austere blanket or duvet. You could almost pretend it’s a Japanese print. Not so sure about the Secretary, though.

switch out the glass knob for a brushed nickel one and the secretary will be fine. you could even beat it up a little bit to look vintage. it is cottage-y, but it’s not particularly fussy, and i’ve seen lots of interiors lately that look the same as the room the secretary is placed in (vintage barnish). just keep everything spare, and it’ll look great.
